Especially when they have their own horror IPs that are more relevant than Silent Hill has been for 2 gens. Or that scare that made Jerma cry from laughter. Why would either KT or Capcom sacrifice their own studios in a 3 way partnership with Konami and Sony, for an IP they don’t own. I honestly have zero clue how Layers of Fear got as big as it did, whole it has really good. Involving different developers from various publishers seems crazy. Japan Studio is gone, and it’s not capcom either. If this were a Japanese studio as rumoured (that isn’t KojiPro), I don’t know who would create what we’re looking at. I do think it’s unrealistic to expect AAA level graphics from them though. If this were Bloober’s game, it would be an impressive step up for them, but they have gradually improved their visuals over the years… so maybe? It’s tough to say, it could be Bloober if they massively expanded and had a bigger budget. It’s impossible to place the dev or engine from these shots. I also don’t believe for a second that Kojima would be involved with Silent Hill after what happened before, not even for the MEMEs. Not saying it looks bad, and hey maybe Kojima’s crew could learn to work on a tighter budget some day, but that seems far-fetched to me. The hair is also a bit stylised in a way that doesn’t suit KojiPro’s style, that’s just my opinion. For the character render to be this detailed it would have to be fairly far along.

I know it’s supposed to be early screenshots, but Kojima is an absolute stickler for realism. There’s a lot to speculate on here and I’d love to hear opinions. ugh, again, Bloober.)Ĭan we get back onto the topic of the thread. Don't get me wrong, I'm entirely for analyzing any changes and seeing how well (or poorly) they reflect the original themes-I just also enjoy seeing what new things people come up with, even if they're not always good. With anything that gets changed, people tend to act as if the original material has been ruined and is no longer accessible. But that's why I mentioned that I wish we could get an actual decent remaster of the originals they still stand up in a lot of ways. Some people’s disappointment with Bloober’s approach to horror was summed up in a clip of YouTuber Jerma playing Layers of Fear and breaking down cackling as a ghost child slams into a wall. I feel like the terminology gets a little muddled-""reimagining" usually means a ground-up do-over with the same basic concepts, but "remake" can refer to something like RE2 and RE3 or games that stay closer to the originals, like Link's Awakening. Jerma playing Layers of Fear, when the baby doll ran across the hall and ran into the wall. Plenty of remakes make changes, though, too even the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes have changed story beats. getcha jerma crying on stream pride icons here, you gay fucks.

That's fair! With a team like Bloober, especially, I don't trust them to make any changes that even remotely could be for the better.
